Early this morning a magnitude 8.8 earthquake occurred in central Chile, 114 kilometres (71 miles) NNE (15 degrees) of Concepcion, approximately 1000 kilometres north of Breakwater's Toqui mine. The earthquake was noticed at the Toqui mine site; however, preliminary indications are that there has been no damage to infrastructure at the mine site. We are continuing to monitor the situation; our major concern right now is for the families of our employees and the people of Chile.
